Default NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 - catastrophic failure

I use the NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 [Display adapter]
with Gigabyte Technology board, 8PE667U 1.x
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG 09/12/2002
and Sony GDM-400PST monitor.

When I try to access the Display Property of GeForce4 Ti 4200
I got the following response: "NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 - catastrophic
failure".

I wonder whether someone could comment on this feature, What might
possibly be
a reason for that "catastrophic failure"?

Thanks IA -

JDR
