I never liked that store or it's clerks.

Amen to that. I wanted to buy a stereo one time and the sales guy showed me
a CD player, demo'd it, etc. After all that, he said the player is $1100
and I said what? A stereo, speakers, tuner, CD player, you're talking 5 or
6 thousand, he answered, yep, that is what they cost now. I left.

One item I did buy the sales lady told me about the 5 year warranty, I
answered no thanks, then she went through each warranty, all the way down to
3 months and said her management required her to do it.

After all that, I never went to CC again.

Years ago, I bought a few items from CC that had several years of
warranty. After about a year, I needed to have one of the items serviced,
and I noticed that the receipt was faded almost completely white. It was
almost unreadable. I then went through my receipt box to find all my other
CC receipts, and they where all completely white as well.

Today, I can take a bright like and a magnifying glass to some of those
receipts, and you can't see a damn bit of ink anywhere. It's just a white
sheet of paper.

They must have been notified of this before, yet they continued to use
their "disappearing ink" for years to come. To me, this seemed like a
willful intention of trying to weasel their way out of warranty contracts.

As a result of this, and their typically high prices, I've made it a point
to shop elsewhere for the past several years.

Agreed, but its one less store to have in the fray of things. Less competition
is a bad thing and it means less choice and higher prices.

Not to defend them or any store that uses thermal receipts but have any of you
guys ever heard of photocopying your receipts?

Why would I need to do that, other than to counter this kind of crap? If
there was a disclaimer on the receipt saying that I would need to
photocopy it, then I would do so. But of all the receipts in my receipt
box, CC's are the only ones I have that are like this.

If I find a store that pulls this kind of stuff, I just start shopping
somewhere else. That's my solution to the problem.

The web provides plenty of competition for electronics, so do the warehouses
like sam's club, costco, and bj's.

For large appliances, there is Lowe's, Home Depot, and Bait'nSwitch Buyin my
area plus the warehouses may sell some of the large stuff.

For music, since the RIAA started pulling this 'sue the customers' crap,
I've never bought a music CD. I listen to the radio. The music industry
packs music into a bubble gum format (ie 3 minute song) and they want your
butt in the store, at the CD rack, choosing a CD.

We, the customer, are not allowed to buy remixes or club versions of songs,
only a 3 or 3.5 minute bubble gum format version, so . . . good luck to the
industry.

JC Penney used to to that too. I don't know whether they still do.
