Remove disks or other media
Just putting a P11 system together - everything is tested to work - except
the motherboard. System gets to point just after verifying pool data and stops with this message 'Remove disks or other media' - when a bootable floppy is in the disk (HD empty) - bios see the hard drive, cdrom... I have tried various disks (new ones also) and the system will sometimes start up on the disk and sometimes show this error - could this be a problem with the floppy controller? - I have changed Floppy drives & cables to known good ones - still same problem. thanks |

ok
different drives different cables cable position Shorted CMOS jumper? or just a reset to defaults? Floppy read /write enabled? Configuration has been updated I would say barring those questions above, the floppy controller is bad, can't think of anything else "James" wrote in message ... For instance it always starts Partition Magic and Tufftest & MemTest etc - just not the 'dos' startup disks - so I have come to the conclusion that the 'dos' disks are bad - so I created a new one (which I had already done anyway) - and it started lovely - then it didn't and the floppy would never read at all - then I made another 'dos' disk and it did work, I installed Windows ME and have had no other problems since - except on changing the CPU to test another one. Then I got - 'invalid system disk'... I put the 1st cpu back in and it worked fine again.... - any ideas - 2 different problems, or could they be linked? |
