Default USB3?

I think one of my USB3 slots is not working. My case has six mobo USB
slots on the rear, two USB3, four USB2, a USB PCI card with five rear
USB3 slots, and a three front USB slots, two USB2 and one USB3.

I have two USB devices that seem to work just fine in most USB slots,
but do not work at all in the one front USB3 slot. Said devices work
just fine in ALL the rear USB3 slots.

How do I identify the maybe bad front USB3 slot in Control Panel so I
can see if it is even there? I have looked at the wiring and see
nothing bad. I am now just not using the front USB3 slot.

Thanks

Sam

Check where the 2x10 cable for the front USB3 enters the motherboard ?
There is a pseudo-standard set of connections for two USB3 ports
on the front, and even if only one port is used, the connector
scheme may be at least 10 pins long.

It should be keyed, so it only fits on one way.

If you blow out the I/O on the port, USB utilities
will show no anomaly. It just becomes a valid port,
which never responds when something is plugged in.
Think of it as a "partitioning" of the signals
from the device, being unable to influence the
logic block. That's what a failure looks like.

To debug it, you would need register level access
to the wires. And I don't know if that is actually
there.

If you're serious about test, here's a stab at it.

Their device includes some sort of voltage measurement
feature on the I/O pins. I don't think the "Speed"
readout implies a frequency counter...
