Default Bios problem Presario 5000 (5BW100)

I'm having problems entering bios on my friends Presario. When the
Compaq logo is displayed during boot, I press F10. Then a small window
is displayed where I can select language. Here I select the default
(English) by pressing return. Then nothing happens, just a black
screen. It just stands there untill I reboot it again. Any ideas on
what is wrong? When booted normally, it runns W98 without problems.

Thanks in advance
Fredrik
