Both hdd & ssd can overheat, even with heatsink added.
Each partition storing Windows 7 / 8 / 10 has a File Allocation Table which records location & size of 10000 files, so during installation of Windows, this FAT is written & read 10000 x. This FAT can overheat & malfunction, til installation fails, unless installation ( after copying files from dvd to hdd / ssd, & before these files copied are expanded & written onto the partition ) is stopped ( i.e. suspend reboot of PC ) for e.g. 15 minutes to let FAT cool.
My hdd is a Western Digital ATA100 (IDE), ssd is a Transcend 64 gb. I want to but can't post any photo ( of my hdd & ssd ) here via Google usenet ( not as versatile as a nntp server, which no ISP in Msia now has ). |
