Default P4PE , Hard Drive not detected on the on board promise controller

Good day
Trying to add a Western Digital 120GB on the parallel ata of the on board
promise controller to use as a simple drive but it is not detected by the
promise bios at boot up neither in windows xp
I have activated the on board promise in bios and installed the driver in xp
!
Tried cable select and master but drive is not detected...
Main board is the ASUS P4PE with on board promise controller
hard drive is a WD1200 ATA 100
What could it be ? as drive is detected and works well when i put it on IDE
1 !

Thank you !
Arthur

Sounds like a faulty Promise controller on the motherboard to me.

Have you run the MBFastBuild utility (part of the BIOS) to configure
the drive on the Promise RAID controller?

Enter Promise BIos, and chocie AutoCinfig.
After this drive work fine. I have that problem with ST120026AS sata drive.
You must use RAID 1+0 Stripe config for work drive normally.
Promise 376 do not have option "work as IDE" or "work as RAID"...
