http://download.intel.com/design/ser...306603-002.pdf

http://www.intel.com/design/servers/...5RP2/index.htm

Any help?

Not much. You also forgot the following link:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../cs-020775.htm

which lists all cpu's that are "officially" supported. Notice the NOTES
column where the number 10 feature is absent or present. Also notice
that the stepping chips that are R0 are the only ones that have the
EM64T capability. That means that if I get any one of the other cpu's
I may build a system in fact that will not run 64bit software. I am
trying to determine if the previous statement in fact is true.

At this point in time, the more powerfull cpu's that go into this board
are way out of wack in relation to the newer xeon cpu's with regard to
price/perfomance ratios and I am trying to determine if it is really
worth getting two cpu's for this board or buying a newer tech server
motherboard, something with VT that is cheaper and more powerfull.

thanks,
charles.....
