Fans the connect to the PS instead of the mobo

Does anyone know where I can get fans that connect to an ATX power
supply instead of the regular fan connectors on the motherboard?

There isn't a standard per se, but rather more popular trends on which
connector is used.

Some have a fan header that looks quite a bit like a motherboard fan
header, same pin-spacing, pin thickness/height, retention "nub", but
is only two pins instead of three.

Others have the same pin-spacing, pin diameter, but shorter pins and a
different retention more like a socket. This type is common on video
cards.

A third type uses thinner pins, shorter pins, more closely spaced
together, with a socket-style plug that's narrower and angled at the
bottom... a bit like old sound card I/O sockets (but not modern sound
card sockets).

Hmmmm. After reading 's reply I realize that I may
have completely misread your question.

Here's a low-cost adapter for adapting a fan with a 3-pin connector if
you already have the fan or prefer a fan only available with a 3-pin
connector:

Should be able to visit any electronics parts store and get a 4-pin
Molex kit, like the one pictured at
http://www.kdcomputers.com/eui/prime/profile/677.htm, but I don't
remember if you need the male or female kit (got nothing to look at
right now). Cut off the old connector and crimp on the pins for the new
one and insert into housing. For the 3rd RPM sense lead that goes
unused, you could put heatshrink over it or just message the insulation
down so the wire end isn't exposed, and use a wire tie to keep it
together with the other wires.
