Athlon 64 - lower price than XP3200 ?!
I just received my pricing on the Athlon 64 3200, (supposed to be available
next week - no price on Athlon 64 FX51). The Biostar motherboard is also reasonable - (about $10 more than my Nforce Abit) Much to my surprise it is nearly $60 cheaper than todays price on the Athlon XP3200. Way to go AMD! I also expect that next week the XP chips will go down in price. I am really impressed that the tests show how well this chip performs against a 32bit chip. Imagine an 8 cylinder car racing against the highest performance 4 cylinder prototype available, but it is only allowed to use 4 cylinders. I think AMD has done well here, and it is turning a very important corner. I would like to see the results of the AMD 64 against the Intel 64bit, under both platforms. Intel made a smart move, and they certainly called many favours for max. damage control, but they can't stop what is taking place. The press is really having their way with AMD, they bashed them for being late 2 years ago, today they claim AMD could be too early. Alan...
You get an 'A' for being a brave early adoptee! Let us know how it goes. Karl "Alan" wrote in message le.rogers.com...
