Default Name of diagnostic utilties package

Hi there,

I was recently searching on the web for a diagnostic utilities package and
cam across one review on cnet. It was claimed that this bootable cd had
pretty much every utility a test technician would want and is commonly used
by repair companies to test machines. I wanted to get a copy but can't
remember the name of the package!

I thought it was called MSI tools but can't find any reference to a packace
under that name now. Does anyone know what software I'm talking about?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

And a search on "diagnostic floppy" doesn't turn up that same, ahem,
review? Be warned that "reviews" at C/Net and PC Magazine are often
just advertisements. The "review" just regurgitates what the product
maker sent to that publication as a product brief. No one at that
publication really tests the product; they just rewrite what the
manufacturer told them.

I don't run a PC fab/repair shop so I don't know what the Pros might
use. I have CheckIt and it's okay. You can create a bootable
diagnostics floppy. I don't remember using it to repair anything (other
than a long time ago for a memory problem) but have used it for burn-in.
Some that I've heard of: CheckIt ($70 basic, $296 Pro); PC Certify ($29
Lite, $59 Power, $149 Pro), PC Doctor (but I can't see a $15 diagnostic
doing what a $200 product does); Fix-It Utilities ($30). Bit leery of
Fix-It; usually see this sitting on the shelves at BestBuy and not sure
a product targeted at home users is a sufficiently professional and
robust tool, and it keeps bouncing around (first one vendor, then
Ontrack, and now V-com) since probably it is a low or zero revenue
generator.

I'm not familiar with that set of software tools. TuffTEST Pro is pretty
good for an all-in-one package. Freeware such as Memtest86, Prime95 and
3DMark2001SE can all stress various hardware components.
