It still sounds like your problem is with the MBR (and anything XP can

to) and/or different partitions having FAT32 and NTFS and your particular

not being in sync with whichever one is the primary partition. XP can do
some tricky stuff to the lowest levels of the HDD, all in its attempt to
prevent piracy.
