Default driver problems?

Running a 6800 with the latest stable drivers. Video playback is very
dark after a little while. Reboots clear the problem for a little bit
then the screen darkens again on any video playbacks. Is this a common
driver problem or is my card going tits-up?

I'm not familiar with your card's tits, but they seem fine. Have you tried
calibrating your display? How about tweaking your video codecs? What
manner of connection do you use, analog? digital?

Generally, variations in gamma are software troubles, easily fixed, not
indicative of faulty hardware. So that's a bit of good news, the bad news
is the stumbling upon the solution process takes too much trial and error.
Cheers!

Lastly, and this is directed at your, um, friend. Certain rips of content
protected material, and pr0n, have fluctuating levels due to copy
restriction techniques, just a thought.

Heh, I understand. This is more a systemic thing. The poor playback is
across several different players (on the same box though). That made me
think codec so I cleaned my codecs out and reinstalled everything. I reset
the defaults in all my gamma/display settings in the NV control panel. Still
haven't fixed it. I DL'ed the new beta driver from NVidia and my next step
is to update them.

I was more concerned that there was a known problem with the newer drivers.
I found a couple of vague forum references to gamma problems on the last
couple released so I thought it might be a common post here. I appreciate
the response too!
