A UPS can kick in when power sags are mild enough or interruptions short enough that you don't notice the effect on lights. The fact that this happen at regular intervals suggest that your utility company is doing some sort of daily maintenance on there equipment.

I'm living in SW Florida, and my UPS goes onto battery about 4 times a day,
usually at around 2am, and when it goes off it's exactly 4 times at the same
intervals. The software gives a reason "blackout" -- only the lights never
flicker or anything. What's the deal -- is my power really that dirty and at
2am and for 4 intervals, or are there aliens trying to talk to me?
