I have a CDRW which triggers the "calibration area full" error in Nero

Obviously all burning attempts also failed (cannot perform end track).

The drive is a brand new Gigabyte GO0404 DVD burner, while the CDRW is
a relatively new Verbatim 24X CDRW.

Does it mean the CDRW is destined for the bin?

'Calibration area full' means that it could not be read for calibration.
In fact, it may have nothing written to it at all, but simply be
unreadable. That usually occurs with a severe mismatch of medium to
drive. If you've done a full format, then you have prepared your disc
for packet writing and that in itself can be the problem.

However, you should pick a blank from a major vendor which has the same
marking as that on the faceplate logo of your drive: Ultra Speed, High
Speed or neither. If that works, then you simply have a badly mismatched
disc to trash, not a whole drive.
