What a wierd question. A DL320 hot-plug power supply is just that. No good
for anything else, and you wouldn't want to do anything else with it. And if
you did, you'd have a good enough idea of what you wanted to do and how to
go about doing it to not have to ask this sort of question in this sort of
newsgroup.

Perhaps. Sure it is good for other things. No I don't. :-) Or
more to the point, I know there's going to be ground, 12V and 5V
standby connections on the thing. Plus, from the documentation, I've
gathered that there is a fan control signal from the host unit.
Additionally, there's likely to be some soft-power-on signal line.
But there may be additional signal lines which, e.g., support
redundancy of which I am not aware and which would be very difficult
to figure out without some specialized knowledge.

The basic stuff I can figure out with a multi-meter, but I'd rather
not experiment trying to find the power-on signal line if I can avoid
it, because randomly applying voltage to connectors is usually a bad
idea.

The things that it is good for is any application for which a person
wants an affordable high capacity 12V supply. At 47 amps the thing
way outruns most of the bench supplies available. It will be a great
supply for high intensity LEDs (with the addition of a current
regulator per every string of 3 LEDs). And since they were about $12
each new, they're about 10% as expensive as any other supply with half
the capacity that I have seen.

(ie. it's level 3 information - we only ever get to talk
to level 1, or level 2 if we're really screwed)

I'm hoping to find a hacking minded person who has messed with the
supplies. This, while not a promising group, is just about the only
group whose topic might cover that particular piece of hardware.
