check your FSB... sounds like you are running at 133 instead of 166.

you will need the very rare 266fsb model or do what i did by a 2400 /266

and
overclock it mines at 2.1ghz and board detects it as a 2600 cool

I know this isn't supposed to work but I bought an AMD XP 2600+ FSB
333 anyway and after installing it along with F10 (beta) it is
recognized only as a XP 2000+ running at 1666MHz. I purchased a
retail box from NewEgg so I'm pretty sure it isn't a relabeled cpu.

So, is it possible to manually increase the clock multiplier to 16x or
is 12.5x the max? If 12.5x is the max, how is it possible that the XP
2600+ /266 or XP 2400+ /266 is supported?

BTW, the original 1.4GHz Athlon ran at 60C while the XP2600+/333 at
1666MHz only runs at 43C. Big difference in temperature. Of course,
this could be different if I can get the clock multiple up to 16x
instead of 12.5x. My other option is just to overclock the FSB.

Any recommendations?
