Downloaded MPC and makes no difference. I made sure I had the latest
drivers for the card as soon as I had finished installing the supplied
drivers etc.

Have a look in your Event Viewer for any errors\warnings.
I`m running out of ideas.

I have completely uninstalled, my vid card, Realplayer, Windows Media Player
and any other media players that were installed and started from scratch,
one at a time. I do not know why, all seems to be back to normal with only
one thing different. No Windows Media Player. I suppose that says the lot
really.
