I want to buy a multifunction / all-in-one printer. I appreciate that
bundling 3 or 4 functions into 1 machine will give lesser performance than
individual stand alone units. This aside, and having read many varied
reviews I think I have the choice narrowed down to an HP.

Can anyone offer any advice on the HP range. I am looking at the PSC2210 and
the OfficeJet D145. If anyone has any other strong suggestions (apart from
don't buy an all-in-one) I would be really grateful.

The PSC 2210 is geared more for home use. With an optional #58 photo cartridge
it will print with 6 inks, giving excellent photo's. The D series is aimed at
small office environments. The D145 is faster, particularly for color printing
or copying. The D145 is somewhat larger in size than the compact 2210. The
D145 has an automatic duplexer for double sided printing; this is not supported
on the PSC 2210. The PSC 2210 has better color print quality, particularly
when the photo cartridge is used.

The printheads in the D145 are semi-permanent; the ink supply is separate from
the printhiad, unlike the integrated cartridge design used in the PSC 2210.

If you will print a lot the D145 will provide better operating costs.

I have a PSC 2210 here and I like it a lot.
