Default M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 RTC Boot Problem

The HDD booted the previous MB (ABit AN8 Ultra) OK.
I've set the SATA port as IDE and AHCI to no affect.
Nothing connected to the PC except mouse keyboard and monitor.
Any suggestion please before I bin the board.:



What BIOS version?

Did you install to this Samsung HD, or did you move this HD from
another
machine? What OS?

I only changed the motherboard etc the HD remained from the previous
build with XP Pro OS.
Since posting the request I've found a thread on an ASUSTek forum to a
problem with some Samsung drives (mine included) there is a software fix
(not tried) and a fudge forcing the SATA data rate to 3Gbs this has got
the MB seeing the HD and booting ok Imay try the software fix later but
for now I've got a booting PC.
