Default Opteron 165: when will warehouses run out of 'em?

So, will prices on Dual Core S939 Opterons go down before retailers
exhaust their supplies. Although the rumor that AMD is discontinuing
production of Opteron 939s is likely false, it is founded on the rumor
that AMD has stopped shipping s939 Opterons to resellers & retailers.

How much will prices fall?

So, *when* should I buy my Opteron 175? Next month? June? September?

Try now. If you need it, get it. AMD had their regular price cut last
month and just had a big price drop on 940 pin Opteron dual-cores. I can't
imagine anything else will happen for a few months.

And just to show you I will put my money where my mouth is, I just
assembled a new Opteron 175 system a few days ago as an upgrade from my
aging dual MP2800 system. A Tyan K8E, 2 Gigs of ECC DDR-400 (non-reg) and
a Opteron 175. Very nice. Once I get the new video card I'll check, but I
believe the power consumption (and heat output) is less with the new
system which is nice because it certainly has more punch.
