standby, which I've been using, and sometimes works - keeps standby mode
constant -saying that modem standby is sufficient;...

Event viewer lists a swarm of events. I turned off security alerts in
secu.center. I'd guess that won't help much. Haven't found a way, studying

Win XP Home standby sometimes works right for as long a two hours, other
times it fails after various lengths of time. Any suggestions will be most
