8500DV Recording TV leaves sound hissing!

When I record using my AIW Radeon 8500 DV the audio seems fine. But when I
play it back, the audio has some hissing on high range volumes (like
conversations).
Ive included an example:

http://freespace.virgin.net/s.agero/example01.avi

Ive had this problem since I bought the card, but because I bought it on
discount (no box just wrapped in plastic- was VERY cheap) about a month ago
I doubt I'm in for a replacement as there were no others. It also didnt come
with the 29 pin in/out dongle, so Ive had to connect the audio to the snd
card internally.
When recording audio from the same audio input using sound recorder, I dont
get the same problem. It seems to ONLY occur when using the ATI Tv player
for recording and also Virtual VCR! The multimedia centre for the TV program
I am using is version 8.5
I'm also using the Catalys 03.6

My PCs specs a
P3 1Ghz
512MB Ram
AIW Radeon 8500 DV 64MBDDR 4xAGP
Sound Blaster Live! 1024
Win XP Professional Service Pack 1
Direct X 9.0
Thanks for any help!

You're not alone. I've had this problem too. It came out of nowhere. I did
not have it from day 1. I did a reinstall of OS and all the ati drivers and
now it's gone but for how long we'll see.

All the google posts reffered to seem to be regarding Volume level but
that's not the problem I think.

Thanks guys, your responses seemed quite promising.
I read all the newsgroups last night and tried changing the registry
settings as stated, but my registry doesnt have the volume control setting
so that I can change, and I've changed the ATI WDW TV Audio Crossbar to
different versions via different sources (the Win XP Proffessional cd, the
ATI CD that came with the card, tv-capture-wdm-6-13-10-5118, 6.14.10.6207)
but I cant find the version 4.12.1.5062 or the
http://www.ati-news.de/Files/Radeon/...sbar_W2000.zip
and ATIWDMPatch.exe that are stated on the newsgroups as the files have
been removed from the servers!
Does anyone have these problems with the new drivers they use or am I the
only one?!

Thanks.

Seb
