If you still can....do that. Otherwise you have the following options:

1. Hot Flash - this requires another working machine with the identical MB.
This involves swapping chips and booting your machine into DOS. Then
re-inserting your old chip (while still running) and re-flashing... While I
never tried this, and I have heard success stories, yet there still is a
chance at damaging your MB and or chip...
or...
2. Buy another pre-flashed BIOS chip and replace the one you have partially
programmed. There may still be guys out there who have programmers that
still do this. I know they used to...
or...
3. Buy a new motherboard. If not identical to the one you have, then be
prepared to call Microsoft for XP product activation (assuming you are using
the Windows XP OS).

Maybe someone else has something to add here. But I had this happen to me
once upon a time, and I just had a guy on the net flash me a replacement
chip. Cost me about $20 back then...

Sounds like your BIOS is hosed. WHY were you trying to upgrade the BIOS in
the first place? Down that road lies peril...

I have never heard of this. Is this documented or a FAQ on the Asus website?

Nevermind, I found the documentation on the Asus website.

This feature appears on a small group of P4 motherboards, and only 2 Mboards
that utilize the AMD CPU.

My A7N8X Deluxe does not have this feature.... But as long as my future
flash upgrades are done under DOS, there is liitle room for anything to go
wrong...barring the dreaded AC power glitch...

Anyway...I learned something ;o)

P4C800-E deluxe freezes during biosflash.....what about CrashFree BIOS2 ?

I think i am in deep **** and need some serious help !

Finaly (after i had waited for about 10 minutes) i had to shut down the
system.
Jippie!! i'm lucky to have a CrashFree Bios2 installed on my mobo ....
just take out your emergency floppy or CD; boot your system; put the floppy
or CD in
and the bios will be restored automatically..... wauw i'm lucky !

But what's this ? the system won't boot anymore.

Why flash the bios ?
Because i have 2 sata drives and sometimes my mobo doesn't find a harddisk
to boot from
I still used the original bios (1010?) , so i hoped this latest version
might fix this problem.

This worked for me very well, after trying this procedure several
times. At its best, press Ctrl+Home several times when power up! You
should use of course an older Bios to flash. 1011 seems to be good.

No results with the ctrl-home trick......
I tried several ways, several times.... floppy drive and video card still
play dead.
I'm afraid this mobo needs a new chip :-(((
