GA-8IK1100 (Rev 2.0)
Does anyone have a feel for when the rev 2 version of this motherboard will
appear at NewEgg or Mwave? I don't mind waiting a few weeks but if it's more than a month I will settle for the original GA-8IK1100. Besides IDE raid and using a Realtek 658 is there any other difference between the original and the rev 2? Thanks in advance |
Newegg has been selling the rev 2 board exclusively for at least 3 months.
Gigabyte has stopped production on the rev 1 boards, and Newegg didn't have a big stock level of them to begin with. The rev 2 board does NOT have IDE RAID, just like the rev 1 board, but it does have Intel ICH5-R SATA RAID, as did the rev 1 board. The only real difference is the updated Realtek codec, they added a standard 4 pin Molex connector onboard above the AGP slot so you can plug in AGP cards that need auxiliary power more conveniently, they changed the location of the case fan connector and the CPU heatsink retention mechanism has a different color of plastic than the rev 1 board. Other than those, and besides the fact that they use different BIOS revisions, there is no difference. Russell http://tastycomputers.com "Mike Ninov" wrote in message ... So I'm curious...
Saw another post in this group for a GA-8i875 motherboard. It looks identical to the GA-8ik1100 rev 2.0. The only difference I see is the 10/100/1000 Intel Pro LAN. Any thoughts or experiences with this mobo? Additionally, I see on Gigabyte's site that they list the GA-8i875 and the GA-8ik1100 rev2.0 as "Prescott Ready". Since the G-8ik1100 rev 1.0 & rev 2.0 are basically the same, will the Prescott P4's work on the rev 1.0 mobos (even though it isn't touted on the rev 1.0 info page). I think that although the new P4 Prescott is out on the socket478 pin-out, isn't there a new pin-out coming down the pipe? Haven't heard of it yet, but maybe you or someone has. Your thoughts?
