Coffee on drums - how to clean this?
Hi,
I got a big HP printer (with the optional duplex printing hardware already installed) for free - the previous owner managed to pour lots of coffee over and into it and decide to better go and get a new one. The printer itself still works and just needs a simple cleaning. But the drums of the cartridge are coffee-stained, too. So I'd like to know is there a way to clean the drums in a way that would make the stained parts pick up toner again? Thanks, Carsten |

There are some issues however - firstly ensure you minimise the amount of light that gets to the drums (they are photosensitive), secondly depending on the cartridge type there may be contamination on other parts of the drum cartridge which may be hard to get at. Lastly, when the cleaning is done the drum may bind in the cartridge because there is no lubricant on the drum, this is a powder lubricant that is applied during manufacture, you may be able to get away by lubricating with a light covering of toner - so only clean as much of the drum as absolutely necessary. Good luck Tony |

Thank you for your answer. Actually, I really I will have to disassemble the part which hold the drums. I think I will do this on a day Am I relaxed and don't have much else to do. ttyl |

Use a lint free cloth and apply it gently. Tony |
