wrong amount of memory shown in computer
 
Board fitted with 4 sticks of 256mb total 1024
but bios and computer only show 512 whats up???

1. removed motherboard and all the bits from one case
and fitted in a new one, same harddisk and proc etc but new graphics card.
2. fitted in a new case started up computer the had to re-activate.
3. now compter only see 512mb
4 Asus P4T-E with rambus memory

Could be faulty memory socket(s) on the motherboard, faulty dimm,
incompatible memory or maybe the bios/motherboard doesn't support more than
512Mb? ... is there a bios upgrade available for the board? if there is try
that.
Try installing the memory separately, i.e. either 1x256Mb at a time or even
2x256Mb and see if it still shows up the correct amount (easy way to check
if it's a faulty socket or dimm)
