Blackout or aliens? UPS going off!

I'm living in SW Florida, and my UPS goes onto battery about 4 times a day,
usually at around 2am, and when it goes off it's exactly 4 times at the same
intervals. The software gives a reason "blackout" -- only the lights never
flicker or anything. What's the deal -- is my power really that dirty and at
2am and for 4 intervals, or are there aliens trying to talk to me?

A UPS can kick in when power sags are mild enough or interruptions short enough that you don't notice the effect on lights. The fact that this happen at regular intervals suggest that your utility company is doing some sort of daily maintenance on there equipment.

.... or that this is when the aliens tap into his power feed
because they think he's asleep.

See the weird hieroglyphics in the OP's message ? Obviously he's
already been programmed by the aliens not to notice them. Maybe this
is an "Independence Day"-type attack in reverse.

A few questions

1) Do you see the UPS switching in or are you just reading the report
file? If you haven't seen the UPS switching in then it might just be a
software issue, if you have then it's a real event.

2) Do you live in a house or a large building? Large motors like those
found in elevators can put big spikes on a power line. AC compressors can
do the same thing. Is there some big device that might be scheduled to
turn on at 2 am?

3) How long has this been going on? Is it possibly hurricane related? The
hurricanes must have damaged a lot of power lines, the power company may
be switching circuits so that they can work on particular lines.
