" -- And it also costs about the same. You also need a new Core Duo system to take advantage of the card. It's getting quite expensive. It's a remarquable DX9 performer but what if it were totally inadequate for DX10 games? I'd wait for the ATI R600 to come out and then for the DX10 benchmarks. |

The GPU alone can run circles around the chopped down NV71/3 based PS3 and Cell. both deimos' and 'the dog from that film you saw' arguements are wrong. the 8800GTX will cost over $600 and the somewhat less powerful 8800GTS will cost around $500. here's why your arguements are bad though -- the PS1 in 1994/1995 and the PS2 in 2000 ran circles around the most powerful/expensive PC cards of their times in pure performance (polygons, pixels, bandwidth). but this time, with PS3, it's behind the fastest LAST-gen PC GPUs ( 7800, 7900 series, and ATI X1800, X1900 series) not to mention being massively outclassed by the G80 and upcoming R600. |
