Video Memory Heatsinks - Available Options?
Hello,
I have a ASUS 9280TD 128Meg Ti4200. The memory modules do not have any heatsink, and was wondering if adding them would help, and what options might be available for that. Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks in advance... Jay S. |

I don't really think that would "help", but then I'm not sure what you mean by "help". Is there a problem you're experiencing? |
Jeff,
No problems, but this is a replacement card under warranty from ASUS because the first card developed memory problems as evidenced by artifacting, etc. I don't overclock ar all really, not trying to get the last ounce of speed from a card, but I thought by eliminating some of the heat from the video memory modules, that it could extend the life. I noticed that my Ti200 from Visiontek had fin'd heatsinks attached to the modules. Jay S. jeffc wrote: "Jay Sottolano" wrote in message ... Hello, I have a ASUS 9280TD 128Meg Ti4200. If the memory fails on a video card operating within stock limits, there's something else wrong. Now it *could* possibly still be heat related, but only with a poorly designed case with no air flow. Giving your case good airflow (including over the video card) would be 100 times better than heat sinks on video RAM with poor air flow. |
