Can't get the highest refresh rates on my monitor?!
Hope someone can help me out. I've got a Viewsonic 19" monitor, the G90fb-2
series, and an ATi 9800 Pro Vid card. From time to time, I've had to reinstall the the vid drivers because I would set my refresh high and the screen would eventually freak out. After doing this multiple times, I realized this occured everytime after I used Radeonnator to force the refresh rate to the highest setting in a given resolution. I have sinced reinstalled the vid drivers and Radeonator minus the custom refresh rate utility. This time, I tried to set the highest refresh rate via the vid driver thru the monitor tab, not using radeonnator for 1152x864. My monitor can supposedly can handle 100 Mhz according to the monitor tab and I can select that. However, if I use the viewmeter controls on the front of the monitor, the monitor reports the refresh rate is just 85 Mhz. Basically, I can't use the highest refresh in a given resolution, just the next to highest one. I've tried various things except one possibility: I haven't tried to set the highest refresh before Radeonnator was installed. I'm going to uninstall Radeonator and try it then and see what happens. Another thing I'll do is to check the monitor specs. However, is this a common thing? Any ideas what's causing this? Thanks! Chris Smith |
