8600GTS is cheaper, and I am using a 22-inch widescreen.

I don't have to play games at maximum settings. So which one should I
choose?

No... the price of 8800GT is reflecting more the current prices of DDR3,
though it's a better GPU.

Er, maybe the fact that the 8800GT makes the 8600GTS look like the slug it
is justifies the price difference?

The 8600GTS uses GDDR3 as well FYI, so what was your point?

On a 22" widescreen you want to use 1680x1050 whenever possible so you
should really spend the extra and get the 8800GT 512mb. You will be
sorry later if you don't.

The 8800GT is a LOT faster for the money spent.
