Hi there everyone.

me.

Can anyone tell me what is the best PC configuration?
Thanks,

If would help if you told us what you're going to use the PC for, gaming?,
general Email/surfing?, video editing?, etc.

It's only for gaming. Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Cheers,

The best configuration depends on:

What you intend to use it for (spreadsheets, games, Web surfing,???)

What your price range for total cost is ($1000, $2000, $3000, ...?)

For longivity, I would *suggest*:

At least a P4 2.66, 800Mhz FSB.
Intel 875 chipset, ["canterwood"], based-mobo.
SATA 8MB cache HDD, size of your choice,[7200 rpm is fine, 10K rpm if you
want to load your games/apps faster].
DVD ROM, or DVD RW/R+/ROM/CDR/RW drive.
At least an ATI Radeon 9800 pro or Nvidia 5800 Ultra
5.1 or 6.1 sound, [can be built-into mobo].
Ethernet if you want to play on line via broadband or go to LAN partys.
400w+ PSU
ATX Case of your choice.

I just priced a PC for a friend, [using NewEgg.com], that is very similar
to the above for less than $1000USD.

The final selection is, of course, up to you.
