Modding my old EVGA GeForce 8800 GT video card's fan to blow heatfrom the PC case?

Hi.

I have an old EVGA GeForce 8800 GT video card's fan in a brand new Antec
Sonata Proto mid tower ATX case with two case 120mm case fans, MSI P43
NEO3-F (MSI-7514) motherboard, etc. See
http://zimage.com/~ant/antfarm/about/computers.txt for the details for
this secondary computer. Also, hardwares were cleaned last night from
its dust pileups after about two years of usage.

I noticed this video card's fan goes to maximum speed (4,000 RPM) even
when my computer is idling. I think its air flow is not good in this new
case. I know my old MSI ATI Radeon 4870 video card (512 MB) blows its
hot air in the rear, but this NVIDIA card doesn't. Is there a way to mod
its cooler to blow out heat?

I didn't look very hard, but for air, I didn't immediately see anything
that looked useful.

They made "slot coolers" in the past, as a means of
moving a cloud of warm air from the area around a card.
But this too is a relatively dumb idea, due to the noise.

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...1 63088460813

That leaves perhaps a water block, and a pump/reservoir/radiator kit that
sits outside the PC, as a means to move the heat outside. It all depends
on whether newer cards and the 8800GT, share mounting points and chip
height, as to whether a water block of appropriate design is available
now. Specialty parts, you wouldn't expect any small retailers to stock
a lot of them.

You can still use some cooling for the surface of the card,
once the water block is in place, to help the regulator stuff,
or the RAM chips. Simple fans would do for that. It would only
call for RAM sinks, if there were obstructions in the way, and
you were having problems getting a decent air velocity.

The problem with fans, is finding a means to hang them inside the case.
When cooling a card surface, I use an aluminum strip from the hardware
store, drill a single hole in the end, and put a PCI slot screw
through the hole, to allow the strip to be bolted to the slot retainer
area. Then, a single lightweight fan, can be fastened to the strip with
nylon ties. Maybe an 80mm for example. If there is too much weight, you'd
need to extend the length of the strip, and find a means to bolt down the
other end of it.

Correction. It is over 5K RPM that is loud and a bit warmer than my
