Compaq 5240 keyboard problem by Patrick Calway
I have an older Presario 5240 running Windows 2000. I understand that Compaq doesn't support Win 2K, but it runs well for the most part. The only problem I have at the moment is that when I opt for either DOS or the Recovery Console during startup, I lose the keyboard. Is there a fix for this?

Compaq "Service" by Patscga
Another reason I would never buy a Compaq again. Microsoft Word was included with my computer. I've had two crashes (another reason I would never buy it again.) After the first crash Compaq gave me the code numbers I needed to resintall Word; after the second crash they told me to "take it up...

need advice on new computers by Patscga
What's your advice on some models I should take a look at? All I know is Compaq and HP and I would not buy either because of the lack of help, even when you pay for it. They outsource and you can't understand half of what you're told. And half of what you understand is usually incorrect...

Need Help After Crash by Patscga
My Presario desktop, windows xp, crashed last week. To make a long story short, I had what data wasn't wiped out backed up to disks, then formatted and replaced the operating system with Compaq disks. Now I find that I can't defrag the hard drive and figure I need to get a new one. What do I...

Compaq SR2010NX by Patty
Last year a few of us chipped in and bought a Compaq SR2010NX Desktop PC for our neighbor. It was a special deal at Staples with a large rebate (which we had no problems collecting.) This year I'd like to get her a DVD-RW since the system came with a combo DVD/CD-RW drive. It plays DVDs but does...

Max HD size in Deskpro SFF P600? by Patty
I have an older Deskpro SFF system. Model #ENS/P600/13b/9/64c. It uses the Intel 810e chipset. BIOS ROM is 686J1 v2.10. I'm wondering what is the largest hard drive it can use? Currently it has a Seagate 13GB HD. Is it subject to the 32GB limit? Does anyone know? Thanks much. Patty

compaq 5080us frozen splash screen by paul
I have a Compaq 5080US which is just sitting at the red logo splash screen. When it powers up the keyboard lights come on for a second and the floppy lights up for a second but it does not appear to try to boot from the floppy nor the hard drive. Pressing F1, F10, CTRL-ALT-DELETE...

Boot problem with Armada 7800 by Paul
I am having a boot problem with an old Armada 7800: 1. I cannot boot from anyplace but the hard drive. After I've booted, the system recognizes the floppy and/or the CD. But, during the boot process, only the hard drive is recognized. 2. When I boot, I get the following message:...

Compaq 3200 by Paul
Hi, I have transplanted the Compaq PC into a tower case. Now the only problem I have is that I don't know where to connect the power switch lead on the motherboard. There doesn't appear to be any sort of indication on the mobo itself and I've Googled for a while now and have come up with...

I am trying to create a partition using "Phdisk.exe" on a clients Presario 1650. The partition is crated at the end of the hard disk (as seen by Partition Magic 2003). However, when I go into the BIOS, I'm told that the partition doesn't exist. Note: I do not have a restore disk, nor does the...
