Problem with older system P4PE by
[email protected]
I'm experiencing random reboots. I've been through this before so I
know the routine but perhaps there are some other options to resolve
it.
First, my psu is a quality (Vantec 420W), it's powering the board, a
2.4 P4, 3 hard drives and an older ATI Radeon 9000 (AGP, 64MB
memory). I do not have a...

Low budget system -- your advice please? by
John Blaustein
Hi,
I just built my first PC -- P4P800-E Deluxe, P4/3.0, 2GB Mushkin RAM. With
the help of many people in this newsgroup, my first PC building experience
went without a hitch.
I may need to build another system and this one needs to be about as "low
end" as possible. It's for my 87 year old...

Cool'n'Quiet? by
Erland Sommarskog
There's two Cool'n'Quiet things that comes with the support disk for my
M2NPV-MX board. One from AMD which is a driver, I think, and one Utility
from ASUS. I've installed both, but I was told that I had to enable it from
the BIOS, which I have not come around to yet.
Anyway, I'm curious: is this...

DVD drive's exploding by

Not real sure where the problem is on this. I can't trust the local computer
repair any more. 3 robberies from them is enough.
Asus P4P800 deluxe

1 Gig ram 512 DDR's
1 HP 9300 CD recorder
1 Liteon DVD recorder died less than a month ago and just out of

A7V600 help please by
Mick
I bought a new computer about 5 weeks ago assembled to spec by a local
dealer - Asus A7V600 board, 1G of 3200 Samsung RAM, Athlon 3000 400FSB
processor, 120G Hitachi IDE drive, XP Home and have had endless problems
which I can now only think to ascribe to the design of the board itself. The
machine...

win98SE which 'newer' board works for you? by
lucky
A poster indicated I may have problems with win 98 and some of the newer
asus boards. I don't want to upgrade my O/S. Who is using what and any
problems? My goal is to get around a 2 gig chip with the ability to
expand ram and cpu just a bit when I get more $. I'm even considering
going with an...

Money no object :-) by
GW De Lacey
I'm about to upgrade, and I need a solid system that's as future-proof
as possible. Applications? Mainly business graphics (autocad and
such), and digital stills and movies, with the usual spreadsheets and
word processors. Some gaming, I guess, but that's not a biggie.
Whilst money _is_ important,...

What heat sink are you using? by
signmeuptoo
Hey guys,
What heat sink are *you* using with your system? What CPU fan? What is
your motherboard and CPU?
Why did you choose what you did?
What kind of temps are you getting, and what are you using to monitor those
temps?

Worth the upgrade? by
Vormulac
Hi all,
I could use some advice. I am running Windows XP on an A7n8x-deluxe running
1005 with an old XP1700 cpu clocked at 2100. I am planning to upgrade soon
to a nice shiny 3200 cpu and an 9800Pro graphics card, but it has occurred
to me that my pair of aging deskstar HDDs could probably use...

Motherboard Power Requirements by
arifi
Hello everyone,
At work we wish to build a small-footprint demo computer using one of
those thin (10cm / 4 inches high) desktop cases, which will be easy to
carry to customer's sites, and such. We prefer this way rather than
buying a strong laptop since we believe such a system will perform
better...

after the power comes on, the Vocal POST Message says, "System

Knowledgeable RAID diagnosis requested by
ColBlip
I recently installed two SATA 80 gb drives as RAID0. All was going well for
about a week. Checks on the speed of the drive came out in the 70 mb/s
range. Then I began to have problems with what can best be described as
"hesitation". Checking the array showed it was going down to about 1 mb/sec
and...
