Scanning slides or negatives at 4000 dpi on this scanner - as I zoom in I lose detail in multi colour speckly effect. How can I tell if this is film grain or noise/problems with the scanner? Its supposed to be a very good scanner

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help. I have come across a HP ScanJet 11p model C1790A (SCSI Interface through a Adaptec scsi card) and having problems getting colour scans. I know the model is old, but it seems to scan black and white fine.

When I scan a page in b/w it comes out perfect. When I scan a b/w photo there are vertical lines throughout the photo copy. Same results with color photos, almost appears to be bleeding. Glass is clean. Ready to heave it unless some wizard can help me, Seamus J. Wilson
