My PC won't power up properly by
Nigel Andrews
I leave my PC on continuously because of this problem, but when I have to
turn it off then it is difficult to start.
When I turn on my PC it makes as if to start (CPU and case fan jump) but
immediately stops. Then the start button does nothing unless I hold it in
for a period and when I release it...

Hello, I've uploaded a pic of my desktop :)

You can barely see the red vertical lines I added with Paint (I, II,
III), but they mark my SB Audigy, PCI/IDE controller and my Radeon 9800

To All Cognoscenti, Greeting!
I've already posted here the story of my tribulations caused by heat damage
to my HDDs. The damaged drives have at last been replaced, including the
GigaByte motherboard that had a bad IDE controller. Now I'm struggling with

Admin
I don't know what is going on with my DDR Ram memory here.
Earlier this week, I have run a memtest86 in the office and found out that
the memory was bad (lots of red error messages on the screen).
I took it to the computer store, they tested it, and they found the same
errors. The guy said he...

UT2004 crashes Gigabyte X800XT with with dynamic lights by
Mika Hirvonen
My fully patched UT2004 crashes whenever there's too many
dynamic-light-generating objects around. Whenever it crashes, the screen
cycles a while between grey and blue, then turns to black and returns to
BIOS POST. There's no BSOD, just plain blue. Whatever sounds were
playing before the crash...

External Firewire/USB HD drive enclosure problem by
BillL
Hello all,
I've recently had a serious HD crash using an external caddy via Firewire -
basically the disc cannot be read though the drive and partitions can be
seen by XP and I'm able to format the drive (if I wanted to). The drive is a
Maxtor 120GB and is over 2 years old - unfortunately it...

Recently my mouse has started misbehaving. Currently the pointer will

Hi, I have an ASUS A7v8X-X, amd 2500.
About a month or so ago my computer got struck by lightning. It came
in through the cable modem and blew up the modem and my NIC card on the
Motherboard (same motherboard model).
Back then, the CPU would run about 39C - 43C. Now, a month later, the

USB - here's an old one... by
Effty
In a few years we'll all have boxes with like... 8-12 USB ports.
Hopefully, all native to the board. I'm sick of installing those little
PCI USB cards, and looking for the perfect USB hub. It doesn't make
sense that all our peripherals have gone to USB interface, yet most
motherboards still ship...

What raid do I need? by
Michael C
I want to raid a system so that 2 drives store the exact same data, so a
pair of 80gigs would come out to a capacity of 80gig, not 160. Is that raid
1?
Thanks,
Michael
