Unlock AMD X3 455? by
red floyd
I've got a GA-880GA-UD3H, and an Athlon II X3 455.
I'm using a stock heatsink, and a 500W power supply. Unlocking the
CPU reveals a fourth core. Given the PS and the heatsink, should I
have any issues if the CPU is unlocked/

Clone XP Professional from HD to SSD by
dont
Hi,
I upgraded XP Professional to Windows 7 Professional via an upgrade disk
to / on a HD, which was successful, and running for quite some time,
successfully as well.
How can I transfer all of this to a new SSD and continue on?
Thanks.

Determining CPU Temp? by
(PeteCresswell)
Reading the docs for SpeedFan, I get the impression that a
third-party app cannot tell for sure which temperatures are
which.
Is there some GigaByte-specific utility that will tell me the CPU
temp?

Looking for serial cable for ga790gpt-ud3h by
robby
Looking to finally add a serial port output to my system. Do not want to
use a USB to Serial adapter. Have tried to google and just went around
in circles. Tried Newegg, about the same, unless I want to order from AU.

Configuring a mSATA mini SSD + 1 SSD + 1 HDD on a GA-Z77-D3H by
Leachim Sredna
Helllo all,
I've given up on my two hopelessly temperamental Asus P5W DH Deluxe boards
and have embraced my first Gigabyte board, the GA-Z77-D3H, which is very
basic but all-modern and notably has an mSATA socket, into which I've put a
32 G mini SSD from Crucial. On the first Sata port I've...

More Than 6 SATA Ports? by
(PeteCresswell)
Seems like most mobos have six or fewer SATA ports.
The one I'm currently using as a WSH server only has six.
I find that using RAID cards to enable more drives has it's hassles.
When I shop for the next mobo, would I be wasting my time looking for
something with 10 or 12 SATA ports - that...

SATA vs eSATA by
John
I'm doing a new build and my case has an eSATA port on the fron panel.
The motherboard has a couple of unused SATA ports, but nothing
specifically designated as eSATA.
Can I connect the front-panel eSATA port to a plain old SATA port on
the motherboard, or are these really different things? It...

BIOS Update ? by
croy
Mainboard: GA-M55plus-S3G
When I boot my computer, the first screen of the BIOS
claims: "Award v6.00PG".
On the website for this board, I see BIOS revisions up thru
F15B. I assume the "B" is for beta, but there is no mention
of this on the page.
I've been trying to update to the F14 version...

BIOS Not Autodetecting SATA Drive by
croy
Mainboard: GA-M55plus-S3G, Rev 1.2.
Hard drives: Two IDE (80GB and 160GB), one SATA (2TB
Seagate).
Problem: After a power-off, the BIOS doesn't auto-detect
the SATA drive. If I manually tell it to detect it, it
does, but the drive is still not listed in the boot drive
order, so I have to save...

Mobo Beeps w/HandBrake? by
(PeteCresswell)
EP45-UD3L.
When I run the video transcoding app "HandBrake" with "Normal" CPU
priority, I get intermittent beeps from the mobo.
Setting it down to "Below Normal" (in Process Lasso's scheme of
things...) the beeps go away almost completely.
Kicking it up to "High", makes Windows XP appear to...

I'd upload some screen snaps, but I can't even get Chrome to stay around

Mystery Alarm on EP45-UD3L by
(PeteCresswell)
I get an audio tone from my EP45-UD3L during periods of heavy lifting -
sometimes intermittent, sometimes steady.
Right now, running an app called HandBrake which is transcoding DVD to
..MPEG4 disc-to-disc, the alarm is steady. CPU use is pretty much pegged
in the very high nineties per Process...

GA-Z87X-UD4H: No USB Power? by
(PeteCresswell)
In the process of building up a GA-Z87X-UD4H system, I notice that there
does not seem to be any power available on either the USB2 or USB3
outlets. I have not tried the internal USB3 headers pending purchase
of a 3.5" front panel to use them.
OTOH, on my EP45-UD3L, there is power on all the...

Power Supply Connector by

When buying a power supply for a motherboard do you have to check
which connector type it has for the motherboard before purchase. I see
that some motherboard require different plug types and wasn't sure if
they come with different connectors.

GA-78LMT-USB3, no USB3 by
John
A friend has a system based on a GA-78LMT-USB3 (mobo rev 5.0) and
can't get any of his USB3 ports to work. The USB2s are fine, but the
USB3s, both on the front panel and the back panel, are not.
The ports have power -- when an MP3 player is plugged in, it charges.
But there is no data...

Been measuring it with a utility that copies a test file to a

Power requirement for H97-D3H motherboard by
Haines Brown
I expect to purchase this motherboard, but am unsure about whether I can
use an Enermax 450 Watt power supply I happen to have in hand. I don't
plan to overclock the board or use it for gaming. The cards are likely
to be a modest audio and wifi card, and there will be one or two SATA
hard disks....

DDR3 SDRAM, preferably by G. Skill. The Gigabyte...
