Best-performing SCSI RAID card? by
Odie Ferrous
Does anyone know which is the defacto "best" performing SCSI RAID
controller out there? (PCI 32-bit, preferably with cache memory.)
It's difficult to establish this in the UK - SCSI is not at all popular,
and SCSI RAID even less so.
When the larger corporates got round to recommending Adaptec, I...

Better defragmenter needed by
CWatters
Can you recommend a better defragmenter than the one supplied with Windows
XP?
I'm using Drive Image to image two hard drives to a third one every night.
The images are split into 600MByte chunks so there are about 40 x 600MByte
files written every night. The drive is never more than about 60%...

big drives run quite hot ? by
Timothy Martin
I just upgrade my 40gig Western Digital drive to a 180gig Western
Digital drive, and I am quite sure that it runs, physically speaking,
at least twice as "hot" as the 40gig drive.
It's *not* so hot that I could fry an egg on it, and in fact, I can
touch it and leave my finger on it for 5 seconds,...

MWDMA, DMA 0, ..., etc. We have a diagnostic program that access hard
disk through Task File Register (bypassing the BIOS) and changes mode.
Now I'm...
