Cooler Master Hyper N520 is defective on Intel motherboards by
John Doe[_9_]
The conglomerate of reviews on Amazon for Cooler Master heatsinks
is misleading. The Cooler Master Hyper N520 is being sold with a
defective attachment plate. The screws are permanently fixed in
the wrong direction for Intel motherboards. There is a video on
the subject on the Tube... Just...

AMD X2 4200/5200 vs E6850 by
Flasherly[_2_]
Looking over prospects, if I want, $14 to update an AMD from 2.2 to
2.8Ghz. Rough benchmarks 1/5 or a sixth more umph. Nowhere in the
same league as similarly priced Intel (I just updated and stuck in a
different MB a week ago): Intel's 4G cache is killer, instruction
sets, pipelining methods,...

Questions about writing to flash drives by
Charlie Hoffpauir
Here's the situation... I have 1.5 GB of files, PDFs, Html, text, etc
to write to multiple flash drives. I have as many as 5 USB ports
available on my computer. I'll probably be using 2 GB USB 2 flash
drives for this. Each copy from my hard drive to a test USB flash
drive takes almost an hour. I...

OT Head trackers like the TrackIr 5? by
John Doe[_9_]
I see a jillion glowing reviews about the TrackIr 5 head tracker.
But I don't understand why it's such a good thing. When turning
your head, don't you have to keep your eyes on the monitor? If you
make it sensitive to a tiny amount of head movement, then it's
more likely to mess up? Or am I...

new conroe-4m by

30 minutes to swap, take the vacuum cleaner and trim brush to that
mess around a 212 thermaltake monster after couple years with a D805.
Quick, real quick application of Artic Silver, and four screws to
secure back the HS.
Fired up the second time at 9x333. 65watts and conroe is 7F degrees
hotter...

New battery in wireless mouse by
Jax[_4_]
I put a new battery in my wireless mouse and although it shouldn't
make any difference it seemed to make the it more responsive and
focused. Is there some reason this would happen?

can't believe I'm defragmenting a flashstick by
Flasherly[_2_]
My binary W7 OS (5G) - multiple volumes got corrupted when I added
another, later OS binary files into the same directory. Name
conventions and probably a DOS mistake (should have moved them apart
and into directories).
Had to reinstall W7 (off a flashstick, as a result, which is nice -
very,...

Cooler Master Hyper N520 by
John Doe[_9_]
Anybody have a Cooler Master Hyper N520?
Anything I should know before installing it?
I wonder if mounting a monstrosity like that on its side like in a
tower case is really a good thing.
Thanks.

to replace
Intel Pentium D 805 2.66 GHz LGA 775 CPU SL8ZH 2M/533 dual core 64-bit
Based loosely on benchmarks. Maybe x4 performance increases with
cache and improved technology.
Really wanted a quadcore, but. . .

Strange W8.1 boot problem by
Rebel1
I've been having various oddball problems with W8.1, 32 bits. So I
bought a new hard drive and had someone do a clean install of W8.1, 64
bits. The computer now has two hard drives, with the second one having
the "flaky" version of W8.1.
I have the BIOS set to boot from the new one. If I do a...

efficiency, they're redundant. Once the OS and...

Bootable w8.1 disc or flashdrive by

I've been having various minor oddball problems with W8.1 on my desktop

partition to it. Tomorrow I'm going to a PC store to have W8.1 Pro

they return my...

Last Look at W7 by
Flasherly[_2_]
Had to give up the idea of my boot arbitrator over NT Loader. On the
same partition. By physically removing drives prior to the install,
it's possible to come back and boot into W7 from another non-M$/NTL
loader. Which I'm doing, having tried both my platter drives for the
fastest speed vantages...
