Running windows from a flash drive - possible? by
greysky[_2_]
My idea is that I would like to run my computer from a flash drive - in
other words putting my OS inside a thumb drive instead of a hard disk. On
the net, I see there are many articles telling how to install windows xp
from a flash drive, and even a few that tell how to use a cut down version...

What HSF for M3N-HT Deluxe/Mempipe and Phenom II 965 by
Skipai
Not sure the HSF that came with the processor is doing that well. Got
58c while playing WoW and any other game. It idles at around 33c.
However, bit worried on the whole weight of some of the after market
HSF's since I can't tell if this motherboard has mount holes like my old
Gigabyte board...

P52-SEQ: Wake On Lan? by
(PeteCresswell)
Anybody know if this mobo supports WOL?
It's a server, and I don't want to open up the closet, shut down,
add a video card, add a monitor, and restart to look at the BIOS.
Tangentially, what do I look for in, say "SystemInfo" or other
apps that teas out all the hardware props? Something on...

ASUS ENGTX465-1G Video card crumps. by
QX
Last night my diagnostics program popped up and said my Video Card has
"Not OK". When I opened the case, I found that the fan was not
running. Jeesh, this card is only 7 week old.
The card is running standard specs, no OC.
We shall see how the ASUS customer service department works out.
Anyone...

System Can't Get Past Black DOS Window bco Bad Floppy Drive? by
(PeteCresswell)
Just troubleshot a family member's PC. ASUS mobo (so now we're
on-topic....)
They reported periodic system freezups (supported by many, many
Event log entries). They also reported that it took them 5-6
tried to get the thing to boot (pulling the AC power plug between
tries).
I noticed it was...

Power connection for ASUS ENGTX465 Graphics card by
QX
Newbie here, first build in many years.
There are two power connections on this board. Which one should I use?
The one toward the HDD cage or the one towards the back of the PC?
If I use only one, what's the other for?
TIA

Any ASUS MB that can boot from an OCZ PCI SSD? by
Nammelo
I am going to build a new WS, preferrably based on ASUS (I love everything
about them except the speed of their web sites), but I have one big issue to
solve first.
I will use an OCZ PCI4 SSD as boot device. OCZ warns to make sure that the BM
can boot from PCI before buying one.
I browsed...

P5AD2 Premium dead - IT8212F needed! by
abd08
Hi all,
This board has died.
The main thing I need to save is a RAID1 mirror which was on the
IT8212F controller.
There appear to be some PCI cards out there which contain this
controller, but the bit afterwards is different. My board is IT8212F
0422-DXS. The ones out there seem to be IT8212F...

2GB RAM possible with Asus notebook L3800C? by
Michael Ströder
HI!
I have a fairly old notebook: Asus L3800C.
The manual says the maximum amount of possible RAM is 1GB (2x512MB). But
I'd like to know whether it's possible to put 2GB in there because I've
read that it's sometimes possible to put more RAM in a notebook than the
manufacturer specified back...

Can PCI Express 2.0 Vid card work in a 1.0 Mobo? by

Hi,
I can not afford a new PC right now or in the foreseeable future. My
present one has an ASUS A8N-SLI Socket 939 (I think) and also is using
an EVGA GeForce 7950GT (512MB). I would like to replace that card
with a GeForce GTX 460 FTW which is a DirectX 11 card (I can only run
9.* as I am...

Switching from AHCI to RAID on win7 install? by

Hi!
I have a P7P55D Deluxe with a Corsair F60 SSD as boot disk, to optimize
my system for the SSD I installed it in AHCI mode. Now I'm going to
build a RAID for storage though and need to switch to RAID mode (which
is also AHCI according to manual), doing this in BIOs bluescreens window
