AnandTech Benchmark by
[email protected]
On June 5, I published the SysMark 2004 comparison between Con E6300
and Athlon 64 X2 3800+. Many visitors from intel.com read that page. On
June 6, Anand showed SysMark 2004 comparison between Conroe XE and
FX62.
Some people keep quoting Anand's stuff as gospel truth. I have proven
that Anand is...

Anyone tried installing the 64-bit version of Windows 7 yet? by
Darren Garrison
I tried installing the 64-bit version of Beta 1 of Windows 7-- got 3/4 of the
way through setup, it told me that Windows could not be installed on this
hardware, exited. No details given on what was incompatible. Had to restore XP
from a Ghost backup. CPU is Athlon X2 5050e, motherboard is...

Athlon 64 by
Gaul
I had a similar problem (ended up ditching Win64 for another reason), but
here's what may help. The MSI K8T comes with BIOS set to "Cool And Quiet =
Disabled". If you enable the Cool and Quiet in BIOS, and then try to
install, I believe it may work.

Instructions - terrible by
Travis King
Those instructions that come with the A64 are not good at all. I don't
understand what it means by cam, lug, and all of that garbage. Can anyone
help? On top of that, do you have to open the clips a little bit to get the
heatsink to rest on-top of the CPU because the heatsink for this one...

AMD for numerics - hype or not? by
alex goldman
AMD marks its processors with with numbers like 4000+ in addition to the
clock rate. I believe the number is supposed to mean how fast it is
relative to Intel chips, i.e. a 3200+ AMD chip should be as fast as a
3.2Ghz P4.
I was wondering if this is true for numerics, especially its holy...

Opteron - single dual core vs two single cores by
CharlesBlackstone
Hi, I'm about to buy a workstation, and wonder what the functional
difference would be between getting a machine with two single-core
processors, and a machine with one dual-core processor? Is it
essentially the same thing, or are the two single-cores more
independent in terms of function, memory...

Socket A & 754 Sempron caution. by
Wes Newell
I don't know if this is well known or not but AMD has used different
criteria in giving the Sempron line of cpu's its PR numbers. So don't
buy a Sempron 3100+ expecting it to be faster than an Athlon 64 3000+.
Because it's nowhere close to as fast. AMD ommitted a bunch of the
benchmarks used for...

I'm still confused about all the processors they make. You know one of the
systems I am interested in is the Compaq Presario 3000 series line. One of
those lines in the 3000Z which features the processor from AMD. OK, go...

Opteron 250 and amd-v by
kevinm3574
I've a server with 2 AMD Opteron 250 cpu's. AMD's website seems to
indicate that it should support amd-v but I beg to differ. A
DMIDECODE on my Linux server shows no indication of Hardware
Virtualization being available for the Opteron 250. I'm a little
****ed about this as I bought this server...

Why AMD should merge with Nvidia
Comment: To save us from Intel
By Axonn Echysttas
TO QUOTE A famous expression: "there can be only one". Looking at how
things shape up for AMD and Nvidia, it's rather obvious to see that in
the future there can be only one.

"This processor has a known problem when using early BIOS versions. The
symptom of that problem is exactly what you describe (Media playback
speed is not as expected)".
Is it true or it smells like fake?
