All of a sudden -- Dual CPU's = hard disk crash by
Reuben King
System has been running fine for months then all of a sudden, starting a
couple of weeks ago, both CPU's in the machine will quickly equal
crashed hard drives and instant freezes on Windows start (including
setup).. Can run the machine fine running solo on either processor.
Thought it might...

XP2400 by

Is there a way to restore the default multiplyer on a XP2400.
At the moment it gets detected as a 933mhz cpu by my motherboad (ga-7va)
with unforunately no bios options to change the multiplyer. I need to find
how to change it back to it's default of 15x.

Hard drive locator by
Phil Kusina
When I turn my computer on it halts while the bios is seeking the hard
drive. The led is on, but it just stops. If I hit the reset button it
finds the drive and boots normally. Any subsequent reboots are always
normal as well. I have checked all of the cables and none are loose. I am
wondering...

That's about 41°C, a little over body temperature. If that's the...

SATA vs. IDE by

First off, I realize this is not a hard drive newsgroup. However, I never
visit any hard drive groups, and I know the folks here know what's going on
so I'll ask here...plus I have an AMD system :)
I just upgraded to a Chaintech motherboard with the Promise SATA controller.
I WAS excited about...

XP 3000+ clocked down(?), crashing constantly by
Whitesell (Verizon)
I bought an Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton) and an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe motherboard.
For some odd reason, the board detects the processor as an Athlon XP 1300mhz
(!!!). This may have happened after a system crash...I installed new nVidia
drivers for my GeForceFX 5600 128MB ddr card and the installer hung...

A7N8X and a 2700+ by

I have this running fine at 166*13.5= 2250 (2800+) and chip temp 49C whilst
doing some major number crunching..
However, I have made 200*11.5= 2300 which worked fine until I tried to push
it to 200*12 and now I can't seem to work out how it kicked in the first
time as I never made this again!
My...

First thing you need to learn is that cross posting in the newsgroups is a
nono. Secondly, the processing power you're thinking of getting is OVERKILL
for what you want to use the PC for.
