6800GS_IN, 9800Pro_OUT by Ed Forsythe
Hi Troops, After much deliberation I finally decided to deep six my venerable 9800Pro/128 and replace it with a 6800GS/AGP. I'm trying to decide between the eVGA and the XFX cards. Both are clocked and have 350MHz cores and 1000MHz memory. The only difference is that the XFX has dual DVI while...

Many people ordering BIOS chips for A8N32-SLI Deluxe by Skybuck
Hello, I am definetly not the only one with probably a dead BIOS chip for the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard. (Confirmed by third party bios flashing service) Let's recap: 1. Asus sells a motherboard with a bios version which does not completely support 4 GB.

Open GL by Pat
I'm new at this, but what is open GL and what is the benefit? I'm going to be upgrading my video card, but right now I have a Radeon 7500. I have a AMDXP 2000+. Should I install 1.0 gig DDR? What do I need to do to play DOOM 3? TIA, Pat

The correct way to install new drivers? by PRIVATE1964
If you right-click on the display adaptor and choose update driver, then select manual install, there is no option to 'pick from list' There is that option if you do it from device manager. I usually uninstall the old drivers through add and remove, then when Windows restarts I cancel it before...

Detonator 51, 5900, and image quality by magnulus
OK, much has been made recently about how NVidia doesn't run fast enough for HL 2, that it won't look as good in DX 9, etc. I got a hold of the free release Aquamark 3 and leaked 51.57 detonator drivers. I thought I'd perform a test of my own. First, the test systems: Radeon 9700 Pro Athlon XP...

"nVidia activates a supercomputer in your PC..." by John Lewis
See:- http://www.tgdaily.com/2007/02/16/nvidia_cuda/ Please note the last paragraph of the article, specifically the last two lines. Seems as if nvidia has something even more spectacular up their graphics/computation sleeve for later this year. Might want to consider holding off on that 8800 (or...

Far Cry sucks the big one.... by v56k

AGP speed 2X,4x,8X: What it really means! by Chris Madsen
The number only refers to the transfer rate of the AGP bus, which is an extension of the PCI bus. Yes, faster is better but it primarily aides in reducing load time of the texture data to the video cards local memory therefore frames per sec increase is negligible at best. 3D Benchmark programs may...
