DV - Firewire cable costs too much! by
Syd
I'm about to buy a laptop and I need to buy a cable to connect the DV
socket from my DV Camera to the firewire port in the machine. Is there
a cheaper place to get the cable than £34.07?
It's a lot of money for a little bit of wire!
Syd.

Win2K Installation problem by
Surajit Laha
Hi,
My PC stopped to boot for few days.
It happened like this: one fine night while booting, it got rebooted
while showing the graphical progress bar (Win2K).
It continued, so I had to take the decision of reinstalling the O/S.
Now when I try to install Win2K by booting from the installation...

Newbie question: static? by
Leif K-Brooks
I'm planning to assemble a computer for the first time soon. I've never
handled new parts before, so I'm a bit nervous about static electricity
frying something. I've heard that I should touch an unpainted metal part
of the case, but I'm not sure whether the computer needs to be plugged
in for this...

use network adapter as modem? by

Hi,
I'm trying to set-up a simple dial-up internet connection at home on a
Win 2000 pc.
I have an Accton EN1027d network adapter installed (checked device
manager and it is working correctly)
I thought I could simply use the network adapter as a modem but when I
run the Internet Connection Wizard...

Power supply question by
Jeff
I suspect a faulty power supply in a dead computer. In general, do
people replace a power supply itself, or would I expect that a new
tower would come with one in it already? (this would obviously involve
moving all the other hardware...)

300W PC Power Supply - AT vs. ATX form by
Fred Zimmerman
My local computer shop guy told me that I need a 300W AT form Power
supply for my AMD (Asus Mboard) mini-tower PC.
When I went to 2 or 3 websites selling PC power supplies, they all
list 300W supplies as ATX form.
What is the difference, and can I use an ATX instead of an AT form
supply.
Thanks.

4 disks in 1U? by
Mark Johnson
There are a few 1U cases out there that take 4 hot swap drives, but 2
or 3 bays is a lot more common. Are 4 drives in 1U pushing it too far?
Not enough air flow etc? Anyone have experience or recomendations for
a 4disk 1U case? I'm thinking that it would make a great 2xRAID1
system.
thanks, Markj
