How good are the Broadcom miniPCI wifi cards used by Dell ??? by Ben Myers[_2_]
I've got some older Dell P4 laptops to refurb here and I might need some of the miniPCI wifi cards they use. I've had positive experiences with the Intel 2200BG and 2915ABG. Any experiences good or bad with the Dell DW1350 and DW1450, both of which are Broadcom chips and designs? The Intel...

OS question by William R. Walsh[_2_]
Hi! Ah, right. So presumably the flux capacitors are operating anti-phase in the neutrino stream to create a tachyon emission to remodulate the main deflector array... In a word, "yes". Other than the spelling of "tachyon" you have nailed it. Just make sure you're going 88 miles per hour...

OS question by PDR
I have a dimension 9100 (2Gb/320Gb/dual-core somink or other) that I got a couple of years ago and it has XP-home on it. I have also just started an MSc, and it seems I'm probably eligible for the MSDNAA scheme, which gives me free or heavily discounted access to various Microsoft software....

Dim 8300 - Freezes in Standby Mode by Charliec
I have a bit of a problem. I have my Dim 8300 set to go into Standby Mode when idle for 30 minutes. Most of the time, it wakes up fine when I click the mouse or hit a key on the keyboard. Lately, sometimes it will not wake up and I have to do a hard boot to get it back up. I'm running WinXP SP3...

Dell Mini 9 & Mini 12 - XP vs Vista by ps56k
was just about the new Dell Mini 9 and the Mini 12 - Interesting that the 9 comes with XP and yet the 12 comes with Vista... Too bad... I would think that XP would be better suited for the "netbook" generation -- ---------------------------------- "If everything seems to be going well, you have...

Is there a high-resolution monitor? by J David Ellis
I note Dell's 22" and wider monitors have a horizontal pixel dimension of 1920. My Inspiron e1705 has that resolution on a 17"-wide screen. Does any manufacturer offer a similar pixel density for the larger widths, such as 22" and up? --David

MINI CD NOT RECOGNIZED by Toyman
I have an E1705 Inspiron laptop running Vista Business & 3gb ram. The machine will not recognize a mini-cd. There's not a problem, however, with a standard size one. The mini-cd is OK, since my Dell desktop (Vista Ultimate) will see & run it. When I close the tray (with the mini-cd),...

HW compatibility ? ATI HD4670 / Dimension 5150 desktop by Colin Wilson
Someone on another group pointed out quite a good looking price on a new graphics card, but the specs say it's PCI Express 2.0 - i'm not sure whether my box has a suitable PCIe slot - and just throw in another curved ball, whether the PSU will be powerful enough to drive it (I think some of the...

Dell Mini 9 compressed drive by bitwisebob
I noticed too late, after installing lots of software, that the C drive on the Dell Mini is compressed. Should I run into any issues now uncompressing the drive? It's the 16gb drive with XP. I ran into a few files that Windows would not decompress, in use. Thoughts...? thx
