It looks like it will soon be moving time for me so I need to unload

DL380 G5 - split backplane? by
Heimo Hetl
I have a brand new DL380 G5 with both SATA (factory fit) and SAS
(add-on) controllers. The drive backplane is connected to the controller
with two data cables. How is it wired internally? Can I mix SAS and SATA
on the same backplane, connecting the left part of the backplane to the
SAS and the...

Changing "Port Number" Reported by ACU? by
Will
I'm using DL380 with SmartArray 5Si under Windows 2003. Is there a way I
can change the Port number reported by the ACU for a given drive slot?
I had a pair of drives in another DL380 and removed one to put in the new
system, hoping to use it as a starting point for building the...

Fan speed on ProLiant 3000 Server by
Fpbear II
The fan speed on the ProLiant 3000 is always running at the same speed (very
loud). I thought this was capable of variable speed, so it slows down when
it's cold. I have the support pack installed. Is there some configuration
in one of the management agents to set the fans to variable speed?

Using old SA 3200 controller in new computer by
T-Man
I am bulding a new computer based on a Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard, and
was thinking of keeping the Smart Array Controller and the SCSI-disks
(I have 6x36 GB and 6x72 GB disks to play with) from an old Proliant
1600 server.
Can anybody see any problems in this, before I am palcing my order for
the...

Anyone have the Dl320 with SATA drives? by
Bob Mgr
OK, I know, the reseller told me these drivers were not hot-swap. I knew
that before I bough them. However what I was not prepared for was the
little sticker on the server when we unboxed it which said the LED on the
front of the hard drive caddies will not work. So how am I supposed to know...

Help Cloning Configuration DL380 G2 by
Will
On a DL380 G2, I have a system drive as RAID 1 on SCSI ID=0 and ID=1.
With power off, I removed the drive in ID=1, and put it into an identical
DL380 G2 in the ID=1 position, hoping to clone the configuration. The
system boots fine on the new computer, but when I stick an identical drive
in the...

Can't browse RIB website on ProLiant ML370 G2 by
Jayson
Hi All,
I've configured the RIB to use a static IP address, yet when I attempt
to connect to the address via a web browser, it flashes up briefly and
then comes up with the standard 'Page not found' error. Now, I am
using Vista with IE7, and I assume that's not helping matters. I've
tried adding...

I Did a SmartArray 5Si Boo Boo by
Will
I don't know if this is recoverable or not, but I would appreciate some
advice. Someone here built a Windows 2000 Server system incorrectly and
placed the boot devices in a DL380 SCSI ID slots 5 and 6. Windows 2000 had
no problems installing to the logical drive at that location (RAID 1)...

Anyone ever resurrect a dead fan on a powersupply... by
Rick F.
My Proliant 6400 ate a power supply last week (leaving me in a single PS
configuration for the time being -- no spares right now).. Anyway, is it
worth my time & effort to take apart the bad supply and see if I can get
the fan running again or should I fork over my hard-earned $10 for a new
one (+...

Smartarray 5Si Reporting in Windows EventViewer by

I'm using Smartarray 5Si in a DL380 G2, and I want to better understand how
much detail with the controller drivers record in the Windows EventViewer in
case of errors? Will they record SMART failures? What about minor
inconsistencies seen on the disk and corrected? Does reporting...

How to configure SNMP for Insight Agents by
NuTCrAcKeR
Ok ..
First, you have to install the SNMP service, and make sure it matches the SP
level of your server.
Next, go to the services MMC snap-in, or Manage your computer, and go to
services.
Locate the SNMP service, and look at its properties.

HP B-Series Fibre Switch / Brocade 3200 by
Will
HP's current fibre switches from Brocade are known as the B-Series. What
makes a B-series versus a non B-series switch? Are B-Series based on
Linux core, and the earlier ones are the Windriver core?
We have a Compaq branded 2/8-EL, which from the boot prompt appears to be a
Brocade 3200 with...

Swapping Hard Drive Positions in DL380 G3 by
Will
An admin here accidentally installed the boot device for Windows 2003 in
SCSI ID 5 and 6, and a secondary device in SCSI ID 0 and 1, in a DL380 G3
using SmartArray 5Si. What will happen if we power down, swap positions of
the four drives, and restart? Will the controller be smart enough...

New latest acquisition... by
Rick F.
Hi guys.. I finally found an enclosure that should work for me with a price
that wasn't too bad I guess ($51) which included 127Gb of drives.. I guess I'll
have to keep an eye out for some rails and a cable to plug it into the P6400..
Anyway, I would have liked it a little cheaper, but not too bad...
