The PL3000 story continues. by
***** charles
Hi all,
Well I went to work on the ProLiant 3000 yesterday.
It is actually about 40 miles from where I live. I took
my newly SLOWLY burned SmartStart 5.5 cd and
a Debian Internet install ISO cd. I inserted the SS55
into the cd drive and fired up the machine. It booted
and I got the graphical...

Temperature monitoring my new Proliant 6400R in Linux... by
Rick F.
Hi all.. A little while ago, I was looking at the array-utils package that is
available to monitor the various SmartArray controllers out there and
provide various status's on the current state of the controller(s) in your
server. So, that got me to wondering if the person that wrote that...

Tape library question by
Doug F
Hi Foks,
Looking for some suggestions in terms of a new tape library
alternatives. We use a Compaq TL895 at work with 7x35/70 DLT drives
and we need to upgrade. I was thinking of going the way of SDLT but
wasn't sure if they could read the old 35/70 tapes.
Thanks,
Doug

Tape backup under Fedora Core 4 by
Jeffrey Alsip
Suddenly my Super-workstation (ProLiant 3000) running Fedora Core 4
doesn't seem so super. I have a standard 15/30G tape drive connected
externally to the onboard SCSI port. I am attempting a backup os 20G
(19.383G) to a tape running compression. Now the indicators tell me
that the backup will take...

Talking to the IMD by
.
I'm trying to configure the IMD on a ProLiant 7000 using SmartStart 5.5
and SCU, but when I go into the "View or Edit Details" part of the
program, I can't seem to be able to edit anything - all I get is a
message stating that you can't do anything at the resource level.
It's running no hard...

Swapping Hard Drive Positions in DL380 G3 by
Will
An admin here accidentally installed the boot device for Windows 2003 in
SCSI ID 5 and 6, and a secondary device in SCSI ID 0 and 1, in a DL380 G3
using SmartArray 5Si. What will happen if we power down, swap positions of
the four drives, and restart? Will the controller be smart enough...

SW3322 by
Robert Bates
Does anyone have a pfd of the manual for the SW3322 switch and the
configuration app? I have one of the switches that I haven't used for some
time and have forgotten its IP. In the redesign of the Compaq site, the
SW3322 has pretty much disappeared.

Stupid volume backup question.. by
Rick F.
Hi all.. Since I'm pondering over the purchase of an upgraded filesystem
with possibly a new controller, I've got to deal with moving my existing
data (on 4x36.4Gb drives) to the new drives (either 2 or 4 of 146Gb drives).
What I'm planning on doing is using my recently acquired DLT 35/70 tape...

strange driver - cqarflsh.sys by
Graeme
Can anyone tell me what this is please?
Properties state that it's a Compaq ROM Flash Driver but I can't find
mention of it on the net and it's the *possible* cause of a memory
leak for us.
Doesn't seem to exist on any of our other servers also.
Any help much appreciated

storageWorks MiniLibraries by
NuTCrAcKeR
Ok guys, i need your feedback here. The 35/70 libraries(TL891, for example)
are cheap these days, and I need your input. Are they worth the trouble to
impliment and support on a remote client site? If they are a pain, whats the
price/pain threshold. I.E., for $300 they are worth the effort ... or...

Does anyone have .iso or .nrg's of the complete management suite (multi-path
and adapter loadbalancing/failover included) that would be used with RA4x00

If so, please email me at:

Storageworks (4214) questions.. by
Rick F.
LC, Jeff, et-al,
In looking for a Storageworks enclosure (4214 preferably), what sorts
of features should I be looking for in order to connect it to my existing
SA3200 (for now until I move up to a SA5300 at some point) on my 6400R?
Things I see on some and not on others (care of E*bay of course)...
