I have an old computer.
Asus M4A79T Deluxe Green MB with an AMD Phenom II X3 720 at like

I'd do something to perk it up a bit, like a "faster" proc and more
memory....

Using the AMD Overdrive utility by
Yousuf Khan[_2_]
I just picked up a Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition. Now that this
processor family has become the previous generation processors, I was
able to pick this one up fairly cheaply. What used to be a $300+ chip, I
got now for less than $200! It drops in and replaces my previous Phenom
II X3 710...

Small form factor (SFF) AMD64 recommendations by
Yug3sh
Hi,
I am looking for a barebones small form factor AMD64. Anyone have any
recommendations or ones I should steer clear off?
Currently using a shuttle SB51g and would like to stick with SFF (can't
handle tower cases and the noise anymore).
Thanks.

Thanks all! by
Zephyr
I am a 'lurking' type who, came across some interesting nodes on here about
'raising the voltage' for the DDR memory. I have to say that's been the
best recommendation I've read yet. I raised the MB voltage pin up .1 v from
default, and man, this thing has taken off It runs more
stable, less...

Sempron 2400+ runs at 1.67GHz, should be 2000MHz? by
Zootal[_3_]
According to this cpu chart here http://www.amdboard.com/amdid.html, the
Sempron 2400+ should run at 2000MHz. Every monitoring tool I've used says
it's running at 1.67GHz. Is the chart wrong? Is there something special I
have to do to get it to run at the advertised speed? I'm running this in a...

How hot can a phenom get and still function? by
Zootal[_3_]
I have a Phenom 9950 quad core, 2600MHz. I'm looking at the temp monitor and
it says 128C, or 262F. I kinda don't think that is correct - the fan is
running, heat sink appears to be properly attached and feels like it
normally does - warm, not too hot.
I once had a power supply wire stop the...

Athlon 64 FX55 and Registered Memory by
Zygon Curry
Hi
I need a confirmation regarding the Athlon 64 FX55 and Registered
Memory. My understanding is that the 939 Athlon 64 FX55 doesn't use
Registerd Memory, unlike previous FX models, and uses standard memory
instead.
Is this correct?
Thanks,

Athlon 64 more powerful than Itanium 2? Plus Dual core... by
\Guest\
I was just wondering if this is so. I saw a comparison that said it far outdid the Itanium I chip.
I am also new to AMD. I was going to make the switch back when the Athlon first came out but I was afraid of change. Now that AMD has the mem controller on chip, that has peaked my interest. ...
